third wheel has a myspace page! - October 19, 2006
I'll be perfectly honest with ya'all, I, Jeremy Babcock, am not the biggest fan of myspace. But I guess I didn't really like cell phones at first either.
Shawn has put together a page for us. Please go there and be our friend. I think that's the lingo.

On Account of the Atmosphere (ALBUM LYRICS) - October 12, 2006
Track 1 Easier with Nothing
Step inside this plastic bag
Float across the ocean
Sink down
When life’s a drag
It’s only natural to breathe
Fill your heart with air
Then sew it on your sleeve
Open up the door you know
Kick your shoes off and play
The radio
Waiting for your favorite song
The one you like to hear when everything is wrong
Sometimes it’s easier with nothing
Sometimes it’s easier with nothing
Sometimes it’s easier with nothing to say
Broken bones and telephones
Shattered glass and shoeless feet
Someday soon I will be walking
Down along a silent street
I will see you and we’ll smile
Track 2 Compass
It was Saturday night I was walking around
Like a burned out battery couldn’t make any sound
Looking away like a missed connection
Got a compass for a face
But I lost my direction
So I shuffle down the sidewalk and I stagger down the street
And I keep my head down and I study my feet
Shop windows seem like they’re full of excitement
And the days are like water they run just like I did
Sometimes dreaming is the biggest mistake
I’m sick in my stomach
Sick in my head
Waiting for my cup to run over again
Well I’m feeling like a cameraman
Who can’t decide
What to leave out and what to hide
Pictures of everything that is true
Pictures of everything but you
Track 3 All your prayers are alive!
Strike a match
Across my skin
And let the healing process begin I’m
Holding onto everything
On account of the
Atmosphere
I sleep until I
Disappear
Holding onto everything
Protesting the truth
Smiling through my broken tooth
All your prayers are alive
Waiting to arrive
All your prayers are alive
Waiting to arrive
Spider spinning
Shiny web
Hanging around on a brand new friend
Holding onto everything
Stumbling over
Mole hole dirt
I think it over
Til’ It hurts
Holding onto everything
Track 4 Weathermap
When someone’s got a gun to your head
Do you make yourself look bigger or pretend that you’re dead?
Do you run for the river or climb up a tree?
It could happen to you, it could happen to me
Let’s be ready
Paint by number chalk outline
Poison berries growing on a poisonous vine
Acid rain collecting quietly
Outside
You’re the only weathermap I need
I won’t be worried waiting for the forecast to forecast me
Mountain lions and killer bees
Goldfish floating on a stormy sea
Alligator choking violently on me
Birds can tell when the wind’s gonna blow
Don’t wait for answers that you already know
Suffocating waiting around here yeah
Let’s go
Track 5 Questioning theChemistry
Streetlights stretch out
And shine
To the streets below where we walked
When you were mine
I’ve got a reason and I’ve got a rhyme
I’ve got a bottle working overtime
I’ve got a pistol pointed toward the sky
This time
You
Don’t mean anything
You
Don’t mean anything
You
Don’t mean anything
Anymore
Questioning the chemistry
Look ma, I’m on TV
Tripping over the camera chords
Right in front of me
I’ve got a reason and I’ve got a rhyme
I’ve got a bottle working overtime
I’ve got a pistol pointed toward the sky
This time
Track 6 Blue and Missing
Don’t know what to think of you
All I know is that I’m blue and missing
I’m missing
Walk around the streets I know
It’s colder now and feels like snow
And I’m sleeping
A little less
Empty pockets on Valentine’s Day
Everything left unsaid
There’s nothing left to say
Picture perfect
Crystal clear
and everything I’ve learned to fear
is winning
it’s winning
Track 7 Thought you could tell
I know your fingerprints so well
I study them
I thought you could tell
Thought you could tell
The glass that magnifies runs over now
And now I realize
Thought you could tell
I know you’re not the one for me
But I wanna stick around and see
Thought you could tell
I know the way you cross your t’s
It’s what you do to get what you need
Thought you could tell
As summer leaves and fall arrives
I recognize it was all a lie
Thought you could tell
You’re quiet now all by yourself
Thinking about somebody else
Track 8 Alleluia, Allright
That girl’s really falling apart
Got a belly full of beer and a broken heart
Standing by the jukebox
All night long
Bound and gagged
With nothing to say
Tongue’s tied to my teeth in a permanent way
Listening to the jukebox
All night long
Every song
Seems to come out wrong
Every line
Is laced with turpentine
Alleluia
Alleluia
Alleluia, allright
That girl’s really falling apart
Got a bad reputation with no place to start
Paying the payphone
All night long
Caught in the corner of another dream
The one where I’m falling and I cannot scream
Tossing and turning
All night long
Track 9 How soon you forget
There’s a smile that gets worn
When your life’s a little torn
And the pages of your journal
Read more like a diary
I’m taking advil like it’s nothing
Brain pounds
In my head
Like a heart
I’d be happy to stay
If you’ll have me that way
Know that someday soon we will part
How soon you forget
The memories you let
Hold you when you’re hanging from your ledge
How soon you forget
The medicine that you take
To keep your heart awake
Fills you up with love
When you’re bow begins to break
The breathing that you do
When your life’s pulled out from under you
Fills you up with love
When you’re letting nothing through
Track 10 Drag this down
Fell asleep again last night to the sound of the television light
I’m afraid I’m rather ill I’m dreaming of a childhood hill
Where I prayed that God would understand I need more than my
Brother never learned to ask so in response he mostly finished
Last
I’m not trying to
Drag
This
Down
It’s ok (if you stay)
Couldn’t sleep at all last night I’m thinking that I’m not that right
In my head is what I mean
Picture perfect magazine
Inside I’m dying to be still
Inside I’m dying to be still
Track 11 The Damage we do
When I die
Lose control
Of the direction my body will
Go
On bluebird wings
I will float
Catching clouds under my
Coat
No one can predict
The damage we do
Yeah it comes on quick
Let us pray
With folded hands for falling rain
Filling up the fountains that we made
Wishes are
Pennies in a jelly jar
Rolling around inside your car
Waking up
Baby because
Daddy seems so serious
Cameras click
Cradles shake
Highways wait for you to
Take
Stepping Up and Spinning (ALBUM LYRICS) - October 11, 2006
Track 1- The wire from the radio connects to the wall
the wire from the radio connects to the wall
I am waiting for your call to save me
all the letters that you sent
all those words you never meant
you gave me
you should know by now
the world keeps turning around
dizzy up yourself
put your feelings on a shelf
that’s what they’re for
the thoughts in my head connect to my heart
I am waiting for the start of something
every time I look around
I’m amazed at what I’ve found
it’s nothing
Track 2- Easy to Go
traded in my t-shirt
for a turn on the wheel
stepping up and spinning
learning how to feel
it’s o.k. everything’s just fine
walking down the stairs of her place into sunshine
I know
I should pack my things and go
half of a half of a half is a hole
easy come
easy to go
everything has been said
then said again
then it’s ignored
and we jump back into bed
we play these games
to pass the time
how many roads must I walk down until I find
trains keep on running
when you’re asleep
memories keep mounting
catch the ones you keep
count down the days
make believe
use your imagination
call me when he leaves
Track 3 Apartment Song
broken heart the landlord won’t fix
floorboards creaking and cracking like broken sticks
water dripping from the kitchen sink
do you ever stop to think
do you ever stop to think about me
paint is chipping and peeling from the wall
an argument echoes its’ way down through the hall
tell me what you really think
tell me what you really think
tell me what you really think about me
don’t say that it’s over
don’t say you won’t return
I’m old enough to know better
bright enough to get burned
you get burned
first of the month and rent is due
costs a lot more
living without you…
Track 4- Even the Radio
box of letters
under the bed
box of words
you once said
you once said were true
you once said were true
record player
skipping stones
broken bottles
broken bones
and the cat still yawns
every time I turn the radio on
even the radio can’t help me now
even the radio can’t help me now
now that you’re gone
Monday morning
coffee pot
folded newspaper
extra extra it’s all you’ve got
kitchen table
creaky floor
silver lining
you once wore
you once wore a smile
Track 5- All my friends are carrrying guns
once upon a memory that never connects
to the part of your brain that always forgets
letters like bullets that shine in the sun
all of my friends are carrying guns
you’re not the only one I know
who has lost all their faith in the radio
telephone’s telling me something has to be done
all of my friends are carrying guns
all my friends are carrying guns
all my friends are carrying gun
all my friends are carrying guns
I was too young to know
not to leave a loaded gun right next
to the radio
I never thought it could happen to me
we were just having fun it went off accidentally
so saddle on up and ride off into the sun
all of my friends are carrying guns
Track 6- Everyone's so sensitive
the miracle of medicine is that you’re always surprised
at the way you feel when company arrives
you smoke
you drink
you do it again
you fall asleep without ever listening
everyone’s so sensitive about the way your name’s pronounced
oh, Gillian Welch, I never thought I’d have to leave this town
the shoes on your back
the shirt on your feet
the way you feel when you walk down the street
your heart-it’s exploding
you smoke
you drink
you do it again
you fall asleep without ever listening
why
why can’t you
why can’t you ever decide
Track 7- Falling Away II
I’m becoming a punch line
in a joke I don’t understand
and it’s so
it’s so easy
for me to cry on command
la da dee
made a promise a long time ago
not to fall into a trap
but the ground beneath me is breaking
and the sticks are starting to snap
and I am falling
and I am falling
and I am falling
away
she got married on the forth
on the forth of july
crackers crawled across the ground
rockets ripped through the sky
I finally figured out finality
finally figured out why
a promise is a promise is promise is a lie
Track 8- Kiss me quick
sorry to wake you
let me help you pack
left alone without
now I’m under attack
complete collapse
and photographs
collecting dust
twitchy finger
lost and linger
California or bust
you know me I’m so easy to read
I know you and I know what you need
pretty poison on your tongue
kiss me quick while were still young
cross your fingers
put on your cape
jump out your window
make an escape
if you feel like walking
I’ll carve you up a cane
if you feel like riding
I’ll place an order for rain
Track 9- City's no place
there’s a bible in the back of the car I can’t seem to crack
and this feeling that I’m feeling is telling me it’s time to pack
cause the city’s no place for believing in god
when the friends who surround you are convinced that he’s gone
Jesus I’m hanging around in the park again
thinking about where I grew up and where I’ve been
cause the city’s no place for finding a wife
when It’s all I’ve ever thought of my whole life
Joseph and marry sitting in a tree
all they’re ever doing is crying
cause the city’s no place for making a home
when all the bricks in Babylon won’t leave you alone
